Sometimes you get into something and you realize you have bitten a bit more than you can chew. This tent definitely was one of those projects that I should have planned more. The sewing part was EASY peasy.
The engineering part was a true nightmare. A suspended tend would have been pretty simple to managed. My sister wanted a free standing structure. I can sew, I can even sew without a pattern. But building structures not so much. She's the engineer - not me. I used plastic pipes and elbows to make the frame.
If I didn't have to ship it all the way to Switzerland I would have cut a piece of plywood, drilled pilots for the vertical support and padded it with foam. The solution: I nixed the pitched roof and I'm adding a bottom piece with an additional square frame
I'm almost there though. Hoping to finish this weekend, really. I want my nieces to be able to enjoy it (and also because I want it out of my basement).
Isn't the dragon too darn cute?
I love it!! I wish I could sew. Maybe I should put that on my bucket list!

Caroline,
ReplyDeleteOh. My. Heck! This is the cutest thing I have ever seen! Miss S saw this and is already begging for one. As soon as you get the "engineering" figured out, please post. I'm so going to copy this.
