I'm so glad to finally show this to you. The top and the bottom of the Very Hungry Caterpillar quilt are all pieced and ready for quilting. Yes, I even prepared my quilt sandwich. As you can see there were a couple of changes from the initial fabric selection.
The pink was replaced by a deep plum, the orangey yellow by a bright lemon color, the light blue by an intense cerulean. I also added aqua green and chocolate brown. I think I achieved a gender-neutral result.
I had a lot of fun selecting all those bright colors and marrying them together.
Such a cheerful quilt for a little one. I made it big enough for a toddler bed.
Even the back has a ton of character don't you think? I was able to save a small strip of the dots from the panel and integrate it to the strips in the back for a more cohesive look. I also found the perfect binding fabric: white background with green and aqua polka dots. I'm very excited that I'm going to be able to finish this in time for our trip to France next month and to give it to my cousin before her baby is born.
Now I'm hoping to find another Hungry Caterpillar panel just for the pleasure to make another quilt this cheerful.
This is adorable! What a cute quilt! The art on the front is lovely and it just brings back so many memories from the book!
