Trading posts - Stars and stripes

Amie (Kitty Cats and Airplanes) and I had a playdate this past weekend. After a little shopping, we got the acrylic paints and brushes out and set out to paint out hears out. The theme was July 4th. We painted side by side with the same colors but came up with completely different interpretations.

Nothing says 4th of July quite like the flag and the anthem. Stars and Stripes especially to me, since I was born on the other side of the big pond.
In my head the same verses were dancing as I painted

"’Tis the star-spangled banner, O! long may it wave
O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave."
I ended up adding the words to the painting itself

My hubby, who was in the Army when we met, absolutlely loves it

I also love Amie's take on the flag... What do you think ??

Cute little credenza

My house is pretty compact and the architect certainly didn't waste any space for the entrance hall. It is tiny. After looking for months for a piece of furniture to fit in that limited space I finally scored this sweet little credenza. Even my hubby approved. It's a creamy yellow with grey panel and an antique glaze and goes perfectly with the existing color of the walls and trim. I'm still debating whether to leave it as is or repaint the panels.

I'm not a huge fan of the flower design there.

Bedroom makeover - Phase two

No crafts this past weekend. My sewing machine remained untouched, no glue gun, no pretty fabrics or ribbons.

Rewinding a little... we started with this

As soon as the new wallboard was ready, so was I. Armed with paintbrushes, rollers and tarps and with my faithful iPod, I attacked the blank canvas.

The best part was the reveal.

I think she likes it!

There is still quite a bit to go until she can move in: closet makeover, new baseboard, setup the furniture (that's the hubs' department) and in no particular order paint the trim, sew the curtains and decorative pillows and some more. We have a few more busy weekends before our little bug can move in.

I'm taking a break though. First because I'm all sore from hours of painting, ad second because it's purse week and I need to finish my second entry...
