From the back seat

Good morning my dears,

I know I have been scarce lately and I'm going to be scarce a little bit longer. So many things are going on right now in our lives that I'm having a hard time keeping up. Despite my efforts to keep up blogging has been taking the back seat.  I have a whole line up of projects to show you but no time to make it happen. I've decided it would be best to just regroup and be back in few days.

To keep you entertained I may just repost a couple of older projects that deserve a second look. If any of you is interested in guest posting in the mean time, just email me.

Thank you for your patience!! I'll be back soon.

A quick fix treat - Microwave brownie with Jamie from C.R.A.F.T.

Good morning,

Today I have a special treat for you: Jamie from C.R.A.F.T. is visiting over, and I'm visiting her blog. Oh yeah ... that's called a blog swap :).  I think Jamie's blog was one of the first I followed when I fell into blogging so it's a special treat from me to blog-swap with her. And cherry on the cake, she is sharing a special treat with us. Let's hear all about it:

A thanksgiving craft with Crystal's Craft Spot

Good morning,

I'm very happy to welcome Crystal today. I love her crafts and how she make pretty things on a budget. Did you see her super hero cape? I'm going to make one for sure. I'm sure you will like her if you don't already. And her daughters are just A DO RA BLE. So without further ado, here is Crystal with a lovely Thanksgiving project:

I'm so excited to be here  today.  Caroline has a beautiful blog and I always find great ideas and inspiration whenever I stop by.
I am Crystal from Crystal's Craft Spot. Its my little spot to share my current craft projects, tutorials, recipes, and ideas I want to use in the future. I have a craft challenge every Wednesday and Feature yourself Friday that I would love for you to join. I try to post something new almost everyday and I enjoy a variety of crafts. It is my way to relax and take a break from a busy day.

Here's a little more about me:
  •  I've been married for 6 years to the greatest guy ever.
  • I am a stay at home mom of two adorable little girls (5 and 2). They keep me very busy. When they are awake we spend our time playing, learning, making messes, and occasionally cleaning.
  • I teach my daughters preschool at home and we post our fun activities and crafts on our preschool blog.
  • I love to read and watch movies when ever I'm not crafting.
  • I just opened my own etsy shop called A.O.kay designs and I've had so much fun getting it started.
  • I love Blogs! I love looking at others for crafty inspiration, I love staying in touch with old friends and making new friends

Here are some of my favorite projects you will find on my blog:

This month I want to focus on all of the things we are grateful for and hopefully teach my children a little more about gratitude.  I love countdowns and thought this would be a fun way to incorporate both.
Here's what I used but you can easily substitute it for anything you have on hand.

A large canvas
glue sticks
paper
First I used scraps to make a tree (I ran out of brown paper so this is what I had to work with).  Glue it on your canvas.
Add a title to the top
Cut out a bunch of leaves (25 until thanksgiving or 30 for the entire month)  I cut them with my cricut using this file but you can easily cut them by hand or use a punch.  Glue them on where ever you want.
Add a ribbon and hang it on your wall.
Each day during the month we are going to write one thing we are thankful for on a leaf.  Livy was first and said her baby (doll).  Aubrey said her friends.  We are going to keep the leaves on the tree so we will be reminded of all the wonderful things we have to be thankful for.  Once all of the leaves are filled in we are going to read through all of them as a family.
Some Variations:
  • Start with your empty tree and each day add a leaf with something you are thankful for
  • Start with a full tree and each day take a leaf off.  Keep the leafs together so you can read them on thanksgiving or at the end of the month.
Come by Crystal's Craft Spot anytime for more crafts and tutorial. Thanks again for letting me stop by. Its been a lot of fun!
